Esther George, former president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, will present a keynote session to future bank leaders at the 2023 ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking on June 1. Registration for the 2023 Stonier executive education curriculum, which will be held June 1-8 at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in Philadelphia, closes May 1. George is also a Stonier graduate.
“During her impressive career in public service, Esther George played a key role in helping guide the Federal Reserve through a range of economic challenges,” said Jim Edrington, ABA's chief member engagement officer. “We know the skills she learned at Stonier helped her along the way, and we are thrilled that she is joining us to share her insights with our current class.”
George served as president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 2011 to January 2023. George led a workforce of more than 2,000 employees located at the Bank’s Kansas City office and branch offices in Denver, Oklahoma City, and Omaha who supported the Kansas City Fed’s role in national monetary policy, financial institution supervision, and the provision of payment and financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. Treasury. As president of the Kansas City Fed, she served on the Federal Open Market Committee, which is responsible for setting monetary policy for the United States. Under her leadership, the Kansas City Fed also hosted the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium, an annual gathering of global central bankers, academics, and policymakers held in the Tenth District state of Wyoming. The event has become one of the most important economic policy conferences in the world.
