Philanthropitch at SXSW

In 2021, Regions Bank provided a grant to Philanthropitch, a social impact, fast-pitch competition providing executive leadership development, training, capital, and exposure for innovative and scalable nonprofits tackling some of Austin and San Antonio’s toughest problems. Innovative nonprofits with ideas to move their organization to the next level were chosen to participate in months of intensive coaching and mentoring to prepare to build an effective funding pitch and strong business model. The work culminated in a pitch event — similar to opportunities available to for-profit businesses — where they showcased what they had learned to yield capital for their program. In addition to capital, the innovative nonprofits built awareness of their programs with new potential supporters, mentors, funders and volunteers. Finalists received follow-up from Philanthropitch to assist with implementation as needed. In March of 2022, Regions collaborated with this organization to host a larger pitch competition in Austin during South by the Southwest (SXSW) event. In addition to sponsoring the event, Regions also allocated funding to the finalists and have continued funding several of the organizations after the event.
