Ms. Money's Classroom

In 2011, Julie Beckham was approached with the challenge of creating a financial literacy program that would teach children practical, life-long skills in an engaging and interactive manner. Using her background in theater, Julie developed a musical titled "Ms. Money & the Coins®" which teaches children grades K-5 financial literacy through song and activities. The traditional Ms. Money production has been seen by more than 80,000 students and performed 500 times!

With a goal to reach an even bigger and broader audience, Julie and Rockland Trust were inspired to bring Ms. Money & the Coins® online. To make sure the program remained just as engaging, the team spent the last year creating an animated video, recording songs, creating worksheets, and translating the entire experience into Spanish! The classroom offers five lesson plans with accompanying worksheets and an animated video for kids to learn about saving, sharing and spending money. The lesson plans provide an opportunity for educators, parents and caregivers to talk about important money concepts.
