Fraud Prevention Seminars

Cornerstone Bank - York, NE

2023 Community Committment Awards Submission

  • Entry Category: Protecting Older Americans
  • Asset Size: Small

With the growing problem of financial fraud in our communities, Cornerstone Bank felt the need to help our older customers learn the warning signs of fraud. The program was aimed at protecting vulnerable individuals, particularly senior citizens. These programs are often implemented at senior centers or community centers dedicated to providing services and support to older adults. We will presented to four service clubs in York, Nebraska.

Our primary focus is to raise awareness about the different types of fraud, educate seniors about common scams and empower them with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves. This includes providing valuable information on how to identify and avoid fraudulent activities, as well as steps to take if they suspect they have been targeted or victimized.

We work closely with local Law Enforcement agencies to offer their expertise, resources, training and education. This collaboration helps ensure that appropriate action is taken against perpetrators. We believe this partnership demonstrates a strong commitment to the communities we serve.

Employees conducting these seminars include: Kathy Jensen, Aaron Burger and Kim Mortensen.
